After a lot of thought, I have decided to take a break from blogging.
I started JaneRunsWild to narrate my marathon training, fitness goals, travels, and log my race reviews. These races have defined much of my post-college life, even if they were run “for fun” and without much training, and I have loved recalling each transformative experience. It has been so interesting dipping my toes into the blogging community- you guys are full of creativity, motivation and inspiration, and gave me the momentum to keep writing.
When I initially did not make the 2016 Boston Marathon cutoff, even after qualifying, this blog was my outlet. JaneRunsWild was a platform for me to defend my passion for the sport, and ultimately helped me reach my goal of running Boston after I had received a bib from Clif Bar. I am more optimistic that I will make the cutoff for Boston 2017 after qualifying at Phoenix in February, but I may have to re-live this journey again if not. JaneRunsWild my partner, once more!
Blogging was a freeing experience, but at this time I would like to focus this freedom on other activities and hobbies, including yoga, hiking, reading, enjoying our New England Summer. I also have a wedding to plan with Mark, which will be sometime next year! My running won’t be abandoned, as I have several races in the pipeline this summer, including a 10k and half marathon in June, a marathon in July (downgraded from the ultra-distance to the full marathon distance, since I am not yet prepared for an ultra!), and then marathon training for my goal race in October (Wineglass Marathon). I may write about these race experiences here and there, but most likely won’t be chronicling the training.
So while it will be quiet on JaneRunsWild, please keep in touch through Instagram and Twitter: @janerunswild, through the contact page on the blog, or e-mail: janerunswild@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
Good luck to you all, and thank you for your support. Enjoy the summer!
xo Jane
While I’m bummed, I definitely understand and wish you the best. It has been fun reading about your running journey and travels.
Take care and maybe we will toe the starting line at a race one day!

I understand where you are coming from. I have really appreciated your blog. I love that you get the interviews with the elites and show the sides of a runner that go beyond racing. I set up my blog to follow my seminary journey (the whole running thing was just practice for what is to come) but I am realizing how hard it is to keep up with a blog. All the best, and I look forward to seeing more of your experiences and travels some day!

Best of luck, Jane. I’ve really enjoyed following your blog these past several months as we both trained for Boston. And it is work to maintain these things, especially since you need to focus on wedding plans! Priorities! All the best to you and I’m sure we’ll be crossing blog/running/Twitter paths again.

Good luck on your half in June! That is my favorite distance. Long enough to stretch but not so long as to be terribly daunting.

Blessings! Enjoy your summer too! I have a 100 mile race scheduled for Aug 20th here in Texas so it will be hot! Lots of 10 mile heat training now for that. Don’t ever limit yourself to an ultra distance race based on long distance training as long as you can motivate yourself to continue running when your body is wanting to shut down you will be fine!

I so completely understand this. I from time to time take leave of not just blogs but social media. It’s good for the soul and keeps you in touch with the living breathing world to do so. Your followers will still be around, some maybe taking breaks themselves. Happy wedding planning!!
